A conversation with the founder and archivist of the Palestine Poster Project Archives
The Palestine Poster Project Archives, comprised of 15,800+ posters by 3,000+ artists from 77 countries, was established by Dan Walsh as a graduate thesis. Built as a pedagogical resource, the website has become more: a record of Palestine heritage & history; a place for artists to digitally store their works; a resource for activists, publishers, journalists, writers, historians, and academics; and a legitimating force for the Palestine poster’s place in the Western art canon. The Palestine poster is the only 20th century political art genre to transition to this century and continue expanding. Learn about the breadth and depth of this art genre, understand how the posters speak differently to audiences inside and outside Palestine, and explore how the posters can be used to convey truth and resist oppression.
