Art as Resistance : Truth and Consequences
The fate of prophets is rarely encouraging for them personally. Prophets tell truth to power. They are those brave souls who swim upstream while the world is headed for a waterfall. Palestinian artists are among the prophets of today because they are impelled to present their witness by a craving for justice that has been denied. It is no wonder that Palestine has so many artists. In these documentaries we see artists’ truth and beauty, the struggle to express their truth, and the consequences of doing so. – Lea Koesterer
